About Us

Fractal Finance is a division of Quant Trade dedicated to researching, developing, and trading fractal based technologies. The original concept was the brainchild of Erik T. Long. After countless disappointments with linear trading methods and strategies that use them, Erik went in pursuit of a tool that can measure markets in a non-linear fashion. Early in his professional trading career, he was introduced to Benoit Mandelbrot and his theories on fractals. Not only did Mandelbrot devise theories, but he also made practical studies with the cotton futures markets. Once Erik was exposed to this material, he was hooked. The rest is history.

As a principal of Quant Trade and a member of the advisory board, Erik carved out a division of the company that is dedicated to fractals and Chaos theory. This is now known as Fractal Finance. Since its inception, there have been numerous clients ranging from individual traders to Sunoco Energy that have ordered Fractal Finance indicators. We feel that these non-linear indicators offer the highest degree of accuracy when forecasting apparently random systems such as financial markets. Our most advanced predictor is included in the Fractal Finance Toolkit. This is currently offered publicly for individual use.

Quant Trade is a premier trading technology firm founded in the financial district of Chicago. Originally formed as a commodity trading advisor (CTA) in 2007, Quant Trade has evolved into a diverse organization focused on the application of new technology to the trading industry. The members of Quant Trade are as specialized as the company. Every employee brings unique business and academic skills to the table.

Quant Trade has a long list of accomplishments, some most notably are:

1) Developed high-frequency trading systems before they were called “high frequency”

2) Established low latency connectivity exchange gateways in Chicago data centers

3) Consulted and built trading technology for Sunoco, a multi-billion dollar energy producer

4) Programmed and traded neural networks (NN) with wavelet filters

5) Constructed entire trading suites for Bloomberg Professional

6) Developed unique trading platforms and portfolio valuation frameworks

While we may not have seen it all, our eyes are wide open. The take away here is, “if we don’t have it, we can build it.”
