FAQ

TETRAHEX Fractal Finance Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What's so great about fractal analysis?

A: Analysts rely on the ability to see trends forming. That's how they know when to make a trade, and which direction (long or short). The sooner you can see a trend, the better prepared you are to act. Fractals can see patterns in data which otherwise appears completely random. This means that a fractal market analysis can alert you to buying and selling opportunities, much earlier. Fractals work in all time frames - from day trading to long-term. By the way, fractal theory is not new. Researchers have been using fractals for many years, in all areas of science. Q: How does Fractal Finance compare with the other indicators out there? A: Our software provides you with the fractal sentiment of your securities, and it translates this information in a concise, easy-to-read report. You can use it alone, or in addition to your other analyses - whatever suits your trading style.

Q: Can I use this even if I don't know anything about "Technical Analysis" or "Fractal Theory"?

A: Absolutely. Until now, fractals had been limited to professionals with a specialized knowledge of complex fractal theory and related formulas. We now bring the power of fractals to the casual user, without requiring an understanding of the formulas behind it. Now you too can get a fractal analysis in a concise, easy to read report. And, if you're the kind of person who actually likes studying the complex theory behind the formulas, Fractal Finance is a great way to get acquainted with Mathematical Chaos Theory and Fractal Geometry Mathematical Chaos Theory and Fractal Geometry. We're saving you the considerable trouble and expense of writing the formulas on your own. Not to mention the time it takes to test them until they are just right. It has taken us years to fine-tune Fractal Finance. You can put it to work for you right now, while researching the subject at your leisure.

Q: Are the algorithms of fractal theory really that complex?

A: To give you an idea, Fractal Finance uses over 50 custom formulas to complete the analysis. Most of these formulas calculate based on the results of other formulas, creating a hierarchy of results based on infinite variables. Until now, you practically had to be a PhD in math to get the benefit of a fractal analysis - we have changed all that.

Q: How much "tweaking" is necessary before Fractal Finance will give an accurate analysis?

A: None. Fractal Finance will immediately go to work for you, providing a comprehensive analysis of the recent fractal sentiment of your chart. This is depicted in two ways: graphically right on your chart, and with a full description and additional details in the commentary window. Since we designed it with ease of use in mind, no "tweaking" is necessary - you immediately get the benefit of the Fractal perspective for your trading decisions.

Q: Can I "tweak" anyway?

A: Yes. There are many indicators included with Fractal Finance. However, since they were not intended to be applied individually, Tetrahex does not support or recommend such use at this time. Ease of use was a main priority in our design of Fractal Finance. If you just want an accurate fractal analysis - without the headaches it usually takes to get one - then Fractal Finance is for you.

Q: What is the basis of Fractal Finance?

A: Fractal Finance converts a set of price data which is reflected in the high, low, open, close and volume into a wave form. This waveform is then analyzed with a combination of the formulae in Fractal Finance to identify iteration in the sequence of data. Through the course of this iteration, a series of fractals are generated which allows one to forecast the placement of the next generation of fractals. By combining this with a comparison of higher or lower volume, an estimate can be made which suggests market movement. As an added feature, resistance and support levels are measured that are in essence fractal markers which when violated reflect a possible false start in the buy/sell signal. (Using the generated stop-loss or buy-stop is a good hedge against false starts.) Because larger fractal numbers are generated in irregular markets, Fractal Finance is quite at home in a highly volatile environment. In addition, Fractal Finance only needs to use enough data to generate the fractal, because of this the program does not need to use large volumes of historical data.

Q: Should Fractal Finance be used with multiple time frames?

A: Although not necessary, we find that more accurate results are generated when one compares the results of one time frame with other time frames. As an example, a user can compare a daily, weekly, and monthly chart by using the Fractal Consensus indicator to determine an answer. An easy way to do this is to add the Fractal Consensus number from each time frame together. In the above case if one were using three time frames than the maximum number that can be obtained from adding the three composite indicators is 12 or -12. In our experience using two time frames is sufficient for a reliable forecast. We also suggest that the investor does not skip time frames.

Q: How do I interpret the Fractal Consensus?

A: Our Expert Commentary, and Alerts, will interpret it for you. In a nutshell, Fractal Consensus is an aggregate of MACD, Rhythm, Fractal Trend, and Fractal Interim Trend. When the number is 0 the position of Fractal Finance is neutral. If 1 then potentially bullish, 2 is slightly bullish, 3 is bullish and 4 is very bullish. The results are also the same when negative numbers arise but they are referring to bearish sentiment. One way a person can use this is to look at the Fractal Consensus and compare that to the Support Levels and the Trend Indicator. (Note, the Trend Indicator is not the same as Fractal Trend or Fractal Interim Trend.) If the price of a security is close to the Support Level, and the Trend Indicator suggests a trend may be forming, and the Consensus is 2, a good buying opportunity may be present. Keep in mind that when the Fractal Consensus is a 4 or -4, the general population probably already knows the direction of the market.

Q: Should I act on a 1 or -1 generated from the Fractal Consensus indicator?

A: It depends on your risk tolerance. If the price is close to the Support level and the Trend Indicator suggests a trend, then a 1 might allow you to get into a position before the ensuing upswing. As always, place your stops in accordance with the commentary. Order Fractal Finance now!
